At Wichita Urology, we are dedicated to providing advanced diagnostic imaging services to support your health and well-being. Our state-of-the-art PET CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography) technology combines the strengths of both PET and CT scans to deliver precise and comprehensive imaging results.

What is PET CT?

PET CT is a cutting-edge imaging technique that merges the functional imaging capabilities of PET with the detailed anatomical information provided by CT. This powerful combination allows us to detect and monitor various conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders, with exceptional accuracy.

A PSMA (Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen) PET CT is an imaging test that detects prostate cancer anywhere in the body. This test is most often used to look for prostate cancer that spreads or comes back after treatment.

How does it work?

A tracer, Illuccix or Pylarify, will be injected into a vein, which collects in areas with higher metabolic activity. The scan detects radiation from the tracer, highlighting areas of high metabolic activity, which may indicate disease.

How to prepare and what to expect?

Avoid strenuous exercise and eating before the scan; this painless procedure takes about 90 minutes.

FDG-PET/CT in Bladder Cancer

A high-specificity (up to 94%) imaging tool primarily recommended for staging muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) to identify lymph node or metastatic disease. It can change treatment decisions by detecting occult metastases not seen on CT or MRI.
